I wasn't sure if the variation was due to the pigment fading with age. Some of the Gaplus images show the red as a lighter in color, but the repro stuff that Pacific Arcades did has the darker read. As for the red color, I struggled with that too. I haven't been able to find a lot of images online. I just need to find an image that will accommodate my limited editing skills. I do think original Galaga 3, letters would be a better fit, as suggested. The only reason I used this version was that it was already vectorized and easy to change the colors and modify. The lowercase G has been a thorn in my side. I'm not proficient in any other editing programs, so I'm quite limited in some regards. I mentioned in my post that I am using MS Paint to make this.
